Copilot cloud agent (GitHub)
What Copilot cloud agent’s own help pages, docs and terms said on 1 October 2026, by the same six questions we ask of every agent. We didn’t test it for this page. “Not documented” means we didn’t find it on the vendor’s pages; it doesn’t mean the feature is missing.
Coding agent
- Can you limit it?
- One branch per task
- Does it ask first?
- Works autonomously; humans merge
- Can you stop it?
- Stop session
- Is there a record someone outside can check?
- Signed commits
- What about sub-agents?
- VS Code: inherit tools
- Can you test it yourself?
- Needs a GitHub repo
What the vendor’s pages say
Formerly "Copilot coding agent", it "works autonomously" and can push only to its own copilot/ branch. It "cannot approve or merge a pull request". Its "commits are signed, so they appear as 'Verified' on GitHub", with the person who asked as co-author and a link to the session logs (risks and mitigations). Its firewall comes with a warning: "Sophisticated attacks may bypass the firewall" (firewall). Since March, repository admins can let its workflows run without human approval.
Every statement above was checked on the vendor’s own page on 1 October 2026; each links to its source.
Run this test on yours
Delegus Check gives your agent a permission and a one-hour test server, then shows every action it tries and what was refused. It works today with agents that accept a custom MCP server, including Claude on any plan.
